The thread Google Base Housing vs. RETS has spanned many different
topics, making a single response very difficult. Instead, I will attempt
to reply to some individual comments. Please be aware that the context
has been narrowed and that may result in the loss of the overarching
context. The intent is not to pick on specific people who participated
in the thread, but to correct what I see as some misconceptions.

MISMO as a standard has spent a large majority of their effort on data
dictionary type work rather than the transport level. It is a different
approach to that of the RETS community but is equally valid.

RETS2 can directly carry MISMO and other standards data packages. We
call them payloads and they are represented as world-wide standard XML
and reference world-wide standard XML schema. MISMO is moving towards
XML schema which will make this interoperability easier.

MISMO is another volunteer group, with some funding provided by the
Mortgage Banking Association. Some members of the community have shown
great interest in the work we are doing. They are not formally aligned
with RETS at this time. RETS sends representitives to the MISMO meetings.
