Gentlemen & Ladies ,
I am a newbie , I apolgize in advance for silly questions asked .

I’ve been working as a J2EE/Java developer for a good while now, and am
feeling the entrepreneur itch to develop a product/service that will enable
me to retire on a beach in a few years ..

I came across the RETS, and the real-estate industry and what RETS is
trying to accomplish which is great. On the business side for developers,
webmasters I am a little confused on how consultants like myself can develop
products using MLS data(retrieving it..)
hopefully some of you can answer these questions and I can research future
from your responses.

Question 1.
Can independent developers connect to MLS Servers for free/payment without a
broker?
I read on the rets home page that this is not possible to get MLS
information unless I work for with a broker, however I MANY sites that seem
to have the entire United status releastate listing for users to search to
find a house they want.
Example:

Why does this guy “realtor.com” get everything?
http://www.realtor.com/virginia/nbselva.asp?poe=realtor

http://www.harmonhomes.com/
??

Question 2.
I would love to just pay a monthly fee and web-services/XML-RPC/or I can
access a nightly dump to access a system that holds all listing in a RETS
1.5(latest right version)..
..
for example, this..
http://www.mris.com/

Question 3:
For sale buy owner? Did they use MLS?i doubt it ..are they using any 3rd
party database to synchronize for-sale-by-ower information? If so what/where
is it?
http://www.forsalebyowner.com/?PID=GOOG1427

how are you guys making money implementing RET solution(consulting? U all
have a product/website?)

Thanks in advance if u can give me some pointers, on where to go next, etc..
