I create my own decode values for the lookups in my database and do the
decodes myself. I download just the regular Compact format.

Thanks for your kind reply. And I too like to insist on doing a good
job, so it sounds like compact-decoded isn't the solution here? If
compact-decoded isn't the optimal way of retrieving this data, what's
the preferred way? XML? Applying Metadata somehow? But how? I apologize
for asking what surly is a basic question, but after banging my head
against the wall on this one, I'm still stuck!
